I am always on the look out for cheaper airfares. Recently I was introduced to Momondo, a UK based travel search engine that search across airlines, travel sites and low cost carriers to find the best flight tickets and direct you for free to the companies that sell them.

I have tried the site and found LOWER fares than airline website!

A couple of example:

Flying Garuda Indonesia First Class one way from London to Jakarta on Feb 12th:

Garuda Indonesia website sells for GBP1944.57 as the lowest fare.

Momondo find a travel partner sell for only GBP 1,846, an almost 100 GBP savings from the airline website.

Let's compare Momondo with Google Flight!

For example Cairo to Singapore one way on Feb 23,

Google flight found the cheapest business class fare about $951 with Etihad and Malaysia Airlines.

Momondo found a lower fare of $847 with the same routing and itinerary!

I believe Momondo is a tremendous search platform that may deliver better prices for air ticket. Airlines pay travel agent commissions and some travel agent is willing to sell a lower fare by taking less commissions, which direct benefit consumers.

I cannot guarantee Momondo can always find a cheaper flight, but it is no harm to search across the site and see a clearer picture before making the purchase decision. If you buy through Momondo affiliated travel agent and want to change/refund, this obviously means you have to contact the ticket issuing travel agent instead of the airline direct.

You can always find my tips and suggestion under Smart Travel section of my website.

Share your good findings on Momondo and compare it with other website. Let me know what do you think!
