Review: EVA Air Business Class B777-300/ER Taipei to San Francisco

Video Review

After several hours in the EVA Air Business Class Lounge and a great first and last B747-400 flight from Shanghai, it is time to fly their latest product, Royal Laurel Class (Business Class) to San Francisco on B777-300/ER.

The B777-300/ER Business Class feature just 38 or 39 flat bed seats with 180 degree recline and all with aisle access. It is similar to what Cathay Pacific use.

What surprises me as my first time flying EVA Air long haul is the soft product they use, such as a nice set of Pyjama, Fiji water, Rimowa Amenity Kit, Krug or Veuve Clicquot La GRANDE DAME 2006 champagne. These are usually presented in other airlines First Class!

Let’s take a look at the extensive menu offering!

The amazing 7 course dinner! I have a beautiful white aspargaus soup and chose Chinese abalone and scallop as my main.

I was exhausted given I’ve flown from Beijing to Shanghai then to Taipei with a long layover that morning. So I went to bed and slept soundly for almost 9 hours! The flight time was a perfect for overnight rest.

The comforter EVA Air provide onboard was super comfy. It is thick, warm but not too stuffy. It makes sleeping extra comfortable and being at home!

I chose to have congee with Taiwanese delicacies/condiments for the 2nd meal before landing. It was great Chinese comfort food!

What’s not pictured here is the amazing in-flight service by the hard working EVA Air crew. I was looking after extremely well by them during the flight. Watch my video review to find out more about the service.

We landed at SFO 30 mins ahead of time. I love the sight and sound of the huge GE90 engine out of the window.

Conclusion

Did I fell in love with EVA Air? Oh, you bet! I have no expectation or any prior knowledge about their service before this flight so on many level they surprised me positively. Since EVA Air has green color like Cathay Pacific, I tend to compare the two very closely and think EVA Air wins with better service and amenity. I am actually planning on a Hello Kitty flight in the near future with EVA Air.
