Review: Qatar Airways Qsuite – A First in Business!

Video

First announced at ITB in March of this year, the Qatar Airways Qsuite product entered service in June between Doha and London. Paris was the second destination to feature Qsuite since late September with New York scheduled to be the next one.

At the suite unveiling in March, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said:

“This is truly Business Class as never seen before and is entirely in keeping with our Premium product and service philosophy. On Qatar Airways, you choose when you dine, and the menu options are varied, with something for everyone. You choose when you rest, and when you want entertainment, we offer more choices than any other airline. It only makes sense to give you the choice to make your own cabin-within-a-cabin, creating double Q-Suites or quadrants.”

On my latest Airbus factory visit, I finally have a chance to sample the Qatar Airways Qsuite. Currently the Qsuite is flying between Doha and Paris on flight QR41 departing Doha at 1:05am and QR42 from Paris departing at 7:55am.

First Impressions of Qsuite

Qatar Airways ground staff did a good job on the boarding process by boarding economy passengers first before boarding Business Class, so I can relax more in the lounge and there were no lines during boarding.

My first impression of the Qsuite cabin upon boarding was just amazing as advertised!

The Qsuite are huge, wide and with excellent space and privacy. It offers much more space than the conventional business class.

The moodlight on Qatar Airways provided a nice balance of calm and relaxation upon boarding. I felt relaxed straight away.

There are a total of 42 business-class seats on this plane — 24 in the forward cabin and 18 in the smaller rear cabin.

The Boeing 777-300ER, aptly registered A7-BED, is fit with forty-two of the new Business Class seat, including five four-person Q-Suites.

My Qsuite 2B is an aisle suite, but it is also a window suite as it boast a good view with 3 windows!

A smaller white pillow, comforter and Brics amenity kit is already placed in my Qsuite. I have a glass of "so Jennie" (non-alcoholic sparkling grape drink) for my welcome drink. I was able to settle very quickly into the Qsuite. The padding on the chair is excellent makes it very comfortable.

Inside each Qsuite, there is a cocktail table, an amenity shelf, an ottoman next to the seat which can open up for storage inside. The ottoman can also be used as a buddy seat or simply armrest. (can be elevated)

Powerpoint, USB recharge outlet, HDMI plug N play and NFC reader are all present in each Q Suite.

After takeoff, the cabin crew came around to unlock the Qsuite door panel (by a small screw driver) then you can have the door closed!

So what's unique to the Qsuite?

Each suite in the center section of the aircraft has the potential to be converted into a double bed. But what makes these seats special is the privacy dividers on the aisle, along with the capability to converse among three other travelers, which could include business associates or family members. If you don’t happen to be traveling with anyone you know, the Q-Suite offers dividers for each passenger in order to avoid awkwardness. There are a total of 5 set of Quad Suites that can be converted from single and double suite to join together.

The best part of the double Qsuite is that it really convert into a double bed in the middle. The cabin crew will fill the gap between the 2 seats with a "filler"! So you can finally sleep together with your love ones!

Snack Platter on Qsuite

Passengers flying the Qsuite will get to sample snack platter that is only available on Qsuite but not other Qatar Airways Business Class. Of course, you have the option to dine anything on the Business Class menu at anytime you want.

You can have a small platter to your own or in my case I opted for a larger platter to share with my travel companion. two food on a plate a plate of food on a table a plate of food on a table a plate of food on a table

I met a fellow fan of my Youtube channel, Nicholas on my flight, so I invited him to try out the middle suite and enjoy the snack platter together.

As you can see the Quad Qsuite in the middle is huge! Allowing good intimacy to a family or friends of 4 travelling together.

Entertainment Onboard

The TV is huge and in clear high definition. It has a tons of entertainment on offer. However there is no wi-fi on the Boeing 777 and no tail camera view either as the A350 and A380 have. a screen shot of Eiffel Tower a screen shot of a television a screenshot of a television screen

My birthday in Qsuite

It was my birthday on this flight and the crew surprised me with a beautiful cake with my name on it!

The crew of Qatar Airways are a hard working bunch and I really appreciate their dedication towards customer service. You should have a good flight on any given Qatar Airways flight irrespective of traveling class.

My Impression

What a lovely way to spend my birthday onboard the World's Best Business Class product! (in many ways it rivals First Class!). I really love the Qsuite especially the size and privacy it has to offer.

What I found it amazing is the flexibility for 1, 2 or 4 person traveling together on the Qsuite. Aisle seat (B and J seats) are also a window seats with good views.

It was almost unthinkable to have Suite seats in Business Class and Qatar Airways have took the innovative lead on Qsuite product. The Qsuite will also featured on all new B777 and A350 deliveries including the up-coming A350-1000 series.

There are a lot of good Business Class offer from Qatar Airways all the time so look out for some good deals!

Have you booked a flight in Qatar Qsuite Business Class? Would love to hear what you think of it?
