There are 6 Hyatts in Dubai, all by the same owner and all clustered together on either side of the Creek in the North of the city. Despite having 6 properties covering all price points, Hyatt’s coverage of the city is woeful with no properties in any of the main locations (Downtown, Marina, DIFC, SZR, Business Bay). Hyatt elites should seriously consider opting for one of the Marriott options unless they want to stay close to the Creek for some reason or absolutely need the stay credit. Not only is the footprint not good enough, the actual properties don’t compare favourably to Marriott’s and there are no beach resorts in a city full of excellent city beach resorts. Only 3 of the 6 Hyatts are even worth a look.

1. Park Hyatt, Deira (Light Green, North)

Category: 5, 20K points.

Located on the Eastern/Northern/Deira (wrong) side of the Creek, this property has a gorgeous exterior design reminiscent of Santorini and other Greek architecture. The entire complex is attached to a Golf resort and is far removed from the hustle of the city despite being within it. It succeeds in offering a sense of seclusion. This is the best property in Deira/North of the creek (Hyatt or otherwise). Inside, expect typical Park Hyatt minimalism and classy Moroccon flourishes in the common areas. This isn’t the newest Hyatt around and isn’t clearly the best Hyatt in Dubai either (that could be Grand Hyatt due to the hard product, thanks to a recent renovation). The pool is beautiful but a bit too small and easily gets crowded when occupancy is high. This is a real weak spot considering there is no beach either. However, this has a getaway peaceful feel that Grand Hyatt lacks, even if the serenity is limited to the rooms and grounds (the common areas like pool and breakfast get very busy).

2. Grand Hyatt, HealthCare City (Pink, North)

Category: 4, 15K points.

Located on the western/southern/Bur Dubai side of the Creek. This property recently went through a complete refurbishment of its rooms. The new hard product is amazing, upto the mark and the rooms facing the city offer fabulous skyline views (which I prefer to the water/creek views). I found the lounge sub-par relative to the best Marriott ones in the city. The pool complex is one of the best for the city (indoor and outdoor pools). It is a very large (682 rooms + 186 apartments), very busy hotel so there shouldn’t be any expectation of ‘Luxury’.

3. Hyatt Regency Creek Heights, HealthCare City (Pink, North)

Category: 3, 12K points.

There is really no reason to stay here unless the price is close to half or 2/3rds of Grand Hyatt. I can’t think of a single thing that is better here than at Grand. They’re even located virtually walking distance from each other. However, they frequently do price it near that sweet spot and at that mark the value equation changes drastically since it becomes the best of the cheap Hyatt options. The pool is too small, breakfast can get very busy.

4. Hyatt Place Baniyas Square, Deira (Light Green, North)

Category: 2, 8K points.

There is no reason to stay here since the price is usually too close (or even more!) than Regency Creek Heights and it’s in Deira, whereas Creek Heights is in Bur Dubai (better location). It is a standard Hyatt Place.

5. Hyatt Place Al Rigga, Deira (Light Green, North)

Category: 2, 8K points.

Virtually identical to Baniyas Square, almost walkable as well. Standard Hyatt Place, goto the Regency Creek Heights instead.

6. Hyatt Regency Deira (Light Green, North)

Category: 3, 12K points.

This is the worst of the Hyatt options in the city, it is the oldest hotel and there is no price advantage to make up for it. Goto Regency Creek Heights instead.
