Juneyao Airlines has taken delivery of their first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner during a ceremony held at Boeing’s delivery center.

The aircraft, registered B-1115, is the first Boeing aircraft in Juneyao’s fleet, making the end of an all-Airbus fleet history.

As part of network expansion plans, Juneyao is set to deploy their Boeing 787 fleet on new international routes, taking the aircraft to destinations in Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea from their primary location in Shanghai.

Chairman of Juneyao Airlines, Wang Junjin, reflected on the delivery in the following statement:

“This delivery is our airline’s biggest milestone and marks a big step toward expanding our network in China and beyond. As the market-leading widebody model, the 787-9 Dreamliner will play a key role in our global business growth.”

The airline has another four 787-9s on order, with deliveries ending towards the end of 2019. Five purchase options are also available to the airline should the decide to take on more of the type. General Electric GEnx will power their 787 fleet – a decision that was made late last year.

Each aircraft will be fitted with 324 seats and configured as follows:

  • 29 business seats in a 1-2-1 configuration
  • 295 economy seats in a 3-3-3 configuration
