Vietnam Airlines Receives First Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner

Vietnam Airlines has taken delivery of their first of eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, from Air Lease Corporation.

The aircraft, registered VN-A879, is powered by two General Electric GEnx engines and will compliment their existing fleet of 11 787-9 Dreamliners.

Configured in a two-class layout comprising of 367 seats, Vietnam Airlines now has the ability to carry 40 more passengers on international 787 Dreamliner routes.

Breaking down this cabin layout, Vietnam Airlines has opted for 24 Business seats and 343 Economy seats. The lack of Premium Economy provides clues as to where this aircraft might fly, within their network.

Pham Ngoc Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, reflected on the delivery in the following statement:

“On our journey to become a 5-star airline, we are confident that the Boeing 787-10 fleet will further elevate the customer experience on the Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh route as well as many international routes.”

No schedules for the aircraft have been announced, however with its increased capacity and solid range Vietnam Airlines has the option to upgrade or launch new routes.
