The Finnish aviation labor union has informed Finnair of a support strike for Monday November 25th. Finnair is not a party in the dispute, but the planned support strike would have major impacts on Finnair flight operations. Finnair has cancelled nearly 300 flights from November 24th to 26th.

The strike will affect several critical services at Helsinki Airport, including: ground services, such as loading and unloading of aircraft, fueling and push-back of aircraft, Finnair customer services at Helsinki Airport, catering of Finnair flights and Finnair maintenance operations.

Finnair has already cancelled 26 flights from Sunday evening November 24th and approximately 250 from Monday November 25th. On Tuesday November 26th, seven intercontinental flights are cancelled:

•    San Francisco – Helsinki (AY012)
•    Tokyo Narita – Helsinki (AY072)
•    Hong Kong – Helsinki (AY102)
•    Shanghai – Helsinki (AY088)
•    Seoul – Helsinki (AY042)
•    Beijing – Helsinki (AY086)

On Tuesday November 26th the meal service will also be limited, especially on domestic flights and within Europe; it is uncertain that whether they could deliver your pre-orders to the flights. It is a good idea to take your own snacks with you.

Finnair is not a party in the dispute related to the support strike, however it’s impacts are now seriously disrupting the travel plans of over 20,000 Finnair customers. We are extremely sorry for the trouble and concern this situation is causing our customers, and we are doing our best to mitigate the impacts to them.
