Ikar Pegasfly B767 Veers Off Runway

On 17th June, an Ikar Pegasfly Boeing 767-300 experienced a runway excursion upon landing at Simferopol Airport, Crimea, Russia.

According to the AvHerald, the 21.9 year old aircraft, with registration VP-BMC and performing flight EO123 from Moscow Sheremetyevo International airport, ran off the right side of runway 19 and came to a stop 2,310 meters down the runway. The nose and right main landing gear ended in soft ground.

Rosaviation reported that the runway was wet (3mm of surface water on the runway) with a friction factor of 0.54. The circumstances of the runway excursion are still currently being investigated. Onboard the aircraft were 284 passengers and there were no physical injuries to any crew or passengers reported.

The same aircraft experienced a bird strike after take off from the same airport in 2015. Ikar Pegasfly has a total fleet of 12 aircraft, including Boeing 737s, 767s, 777s and Embraer 190s.
