I took advantage of this recent promo and successfully redeemed 63,000 GarudaMiles, instead of 90,000 GarudaMiles, to fly one way in First Class from Denpasar to Tokyo. In my opinion, this is still pretty steep and it may be better deal for 2 to travel together. GarudaMiles once had a 90% off award sale, but soon sold out within 48 hours.
The award availability is very good and wide open on most flights. For flights in First Class, you may have to visit the Garuda local office to avail of this discount. As far as I know, the only way to transfer miles into GarudaMiles is with Marriott Bonvoy.
I will be sharing with you my phenomenal Garuda First Class flight review next week!
Citilink New Dining Experience
Garuda's low cost carrier, Citilink, has started a new Dining Experience on flights between Jakarta, Surabaya and Denpasar. Pay 550,000 IDR ($40) and you will receive a fine dining experience on-board, along with many other priorities. You can order online from a wide selection of meal choices, up to 48 hours in advance. For more information, click here.
The Citilink Dining Experience also comes with: a meet and greet service at the airport kerb side, fast track, airport assistance, free space seat selection and 200 extra miles. Although the name suggests something that is only fine dining, the whole experience is much more than that.
It is an interesting concept that focuses on choices; some may just want a cheaper flight while, while others may want to splurge and spend more. As with the low cost model, you certainly have to pay more to get more!
I think the Dining Experience package is of tremendous value. I was greeted at kerb side on arrival at Jakarta airport, then taken straight through security to board; I was also able to choose an exit row seat, without paying anything extra. It was pretty amazing cutting a steak and enjoying fine dining on a low cost airline flight! On arrival, someone was waiting to meeting me to assist in my onward travel as well. All of this for $40.
Sriwijaya oRUNgutan Campaign
Sriwijaya Airlines and NAM Air, members of the Garuda Indonesia group, unveiled two special oRUNgutan liveries on a Sriwijaya B737-800 and a NAM Air B737-500, at GMF AeroAsia in Jakarta on 26th August.
The special livery is aiming to promote public awareness for the conservation of Orangutan. There will also be a fun run event on September 28th 2019, this will take place at Alun-Alun Pangkalan Bun.
