Pyongyang Airport new terminal
My last visit to the DPRK was in 2014 and the new terminal has just been built but haven't finished interior furnishing. This time in September 2016, I finally have a chance to view it.
It was my first time arriving Pyongyang and deplane using a jetbridge (previously we always use stairs and buses)
Here are some pictures of the new terminal. It is really impressive!
The new terminal feature a variety of shops such as cafe, book shop, CD shop, duty free shop and even a pharmacy!
There is also a Air Koryo Business Class lounge available (see the 2nd part of this post for a detail review)
Perhaps the nicest feature of the new airport is the outdoor terrace on the departure floor for any aviation enthusiasts!
Boarding a Tu-154 via jetbridge!
Air Koryo Business Class Lounge
Being the Pyongyang home base airline. Not surprising, there is a dedicated business class lounge in the new terminal. It is run by Air Koryo.
The only other airline serve Pyongyang on regular basis is Air China.
The Business Class lounge is located after all the shops.
The lounge isn't huge in size but there are plenty of seats and room. During my stay there was just 1 other passenger. Some nice decoration on the wall
There are a reasonable variety of food and beverage on offer in a very nice layout.
Some are a bit funny include canned fruit and "Mungbean Jelly Salad"
There are Air Koryo staff around serve as waitress to each guest personally.
While I didn't stay long in the lounge but it is certainly a huge improvement in Pyongyang. (There was never a lounge in the past).
I don't believe any 1 star airline can offer this amenity for their business class guest??!!
See my review on Air Koryo Business Class flight.
I'd like to hear about your experience in the new airport!
