French Polynesia’s international airline Air Tahiti Nui has unveiled the striking look of its Tahitian Dreamliner, with the design and colours inspired by the beauty and richness of the Polynesian islands.

The first images of the new Tahitian Dreamliner show a design that centres around the blues that Tahiti is synonymous with, Air Tahiti Nui’s trademark tiare flower and a tattoo pattern representing a story of Tahiti and its people.
In a further nod to its Polynesian roots, the airline revealed the secret message that will form when the new Boeing fleet is complete. When the airline has received all four Dreamliners by September 2019, their registration codes will join together to say ‘the warrior (TOA) going forward (MUA) in the great (NUI) canoe (VAA)’.
Below are from the Air Tahiti Nui Press Release:
The first look inside the new aircraft reveals a colour palette which is distinctly Tahitian with more blue hues and Polynesian flourishes.
The arrival of the 787-9 will also mark the launch of a new Premium Economy class, as well as the complete redesigning of the Business and Economy classes.
- In Poerava Business, the 30 Parallel Diamond seats by Rockwell Collins can transform into a 180° bed, around 200cm in length, configured in rows of 2-2-2.

- The new Moana Premium Economy class rows are configured in 2-3-2, with the all new Z535 Zodiac Aerospace seat. Its unique structure gives the optimum space of 96.5cm between rows and a 20cm reclining capacity.

- The Moana Economy has 232 Z300 Zodiac Aerospace seats, configured in rows of 9 (3-3-3), especially designed for long-haul voyages with an articulated seat base and reclining capacity of 15cm.

The latest unveiling follows the airline’s recent rebrand with Air Tahiti Nui’s trademark Tiare flower taking on a sophisticated and modern new look as part of ongoing 20th anniversary celebrations.
The 294-seater 787-9 aircraft (Configuration: J30W32Y232, including the new Premium Economy cabin) is scheduled to operate following routes initially, replacing A340-300.

what a great post sam now thats news allright
I’m Tahitian and I’m ashamed they have selected the 787 as their new workhorse… They should definitely have gone for the A359. Sam, your comment on the economy seats is a bit misleading too – the 787 economy class seat width when configured in 3-3-3 is one of the tightest in the world, making the journey quite a hassle. A definite downgrade compared to the more spacious 2-4-2 of the A343 (I’m sure many people will miss that arrangement).
Arenui, I tend to disagree with your views on the B787. Both A350 and 787 are 3-3-3 in economy, but you will find much superior inflight comfort through the lower cabin altitude and the Boeing sky interior which created lot of space visually and psychologically. I urge you to try out one flight.
Cant Wait to Fly AKL-PPT in February! New plane looks stunning.
