Due to a significant increase in booking demand, for flights to Palma de Mallorca, Lufthansa will now be deploying B747-8 and A350 aircraft from Frankfurt and Munich to Palma de Mallorca this summer. Lufthansa said the booking figures for the destination have increased 25 times between April and the beginning of June 2021.
The airline will be operating a Boeing 747-8, from Frankfurt to Palma de Mallorca, four Saturdays in a row during the upcoming summer vacation in Hesse. Additionally, the airline also plans to operate an Airbus A350 from Munich to the Balearic Island at the start of the summer vacation in Bavaria. These routes are normally operated by an Airbus A321, on 31st July two wide-body Lufthansa aircraft will also be arriving at Palma de Mallorca.
B747-8 from Frankfurt
The Boeing 747-8 is the largest aircraft that Lufthansa currently operates, offering up to 364 seats. Flights to Palma de Mallorca is being sold in a 2 class configuration, offering passengers 88 Business Class seats and 276 seats in Economy Class. First Class and Premium Economy Class are not advertised as being sold on these flights, so I assume both will be up for grabs as Business and Economy respectively.
The first B747-8 flight, LH1152, will depart the Rhine Main metropolis on Saturday 17th July at 10:20 and arrive at Palma de Mallorca airport at 12:25 The return flight, LH1153, will take place the same day at 14:25 arriving in Frankfurt at 16:45.
The Boeing 747-8, also known as the "Queen of the Skies", will operate for an additional three weekends flight, on 24th July, 31st July and 7th August.
A350 from Munich
The A350 flight to Palma de Mallorca will take place at the start of the Bavarian summer vacation on Saturday 31st July. Departure from Munich is planned for 09:50 under flight number LH2658, arriving in Palma de Mallorca at 12:00. The return flight, LH2659, will take place the same day at 13:30 arriving in Munich at 15:35.
The Airbus A350 is the most sustainable long-haul aircraft in the Lufthansa fleet. The aircraft offers 293 seats, including 48 in Business Class and 245 in Economy Class (including Premium Economy).
