Emirates has temporarily closed its onboard lounge and social area on their flagship aircraft A380 as part of COVID-19 precautionary measure. Emirates First Class and Business Class passengers previously have access to the A380 onboard lounge.
“In light of health and safety considerations, Emirates has temporarily modified some aspects of our onboard service,”

“Our onboard lounge and social area will not be available to customers at this time,” said the airline spokesperson. “The safety of our customers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised.”

My trip report below covers the latest Emirates Business Class experience onboard the A380 and the Emirates Business Class lounge:
Last month, Emirates received delivery of its 123rd Airbus A380 superjumbo jet. The aircraft, registered as A6-EVS, was also the final new A380 aircraft to join Emirates’ fleet.
The airline has been deploying more A380s across its network as restrictions were lifted late last year, resulting in a surge in passenger traffic.

Hi Sam . Thank you for the update. Any chance I can reach out to you for some assistance or advice on an upcoming flight
Darn! About to take my first EK/A380 flight next week and was looking forward to experiencing this. Their website (Help > Covid-19 travel support > Current Network & Services > In Flight (Business)) still mentions “social areas” being open but has an X for the lounge. Wonder where one grabs snacks between meals, since the “social areas” text seems to suggest a First Class social area:
“`Order takeaway drinks and snacks in our A380 First Class social area to enjoy in the comfort of your seat. And you can also pick up takeaway snacks from the social area on our Boeing 777.“`
Are these covid safety concerns, or some other in-flight safety concerns? Cryptic.
I have seen over 15 passengers gather together in the lounge during the festive seasons. I think you can still get the drinks by order to your seat.
