Without considering this offer, a flight between San Francisco and London Heathrow costs 25,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club awards points (one-way) in economy class, whereas it cost 37,500 points in premium economy and 67,500 points in Upper-Class business class.

However, under this offer, it cost 17,500 points in economy class, 26,200 in premium economy and 54,200 points in business class.

What About Additional Fees & Taxes?

Only the number of Virgin points required is reduced by 30%, and not the taxes, fees, and carrier-imposed surcharges. When you search availability for any specific flight, you will see the discounted pricing with the additional charges.

All customers need to pay taxes, fees, and carrier-imposed surcharges – which vary according to destination, and cabin. Even though some airlines, including British Airways, offer the option to reduce carrier-imposed surcharges by paying more points, this is not the case with Virgin Atlantic.

How to Reduce Taxes & Fees Slightly?

To some extent, reward flights departing from the United States have lower fuel surcharges than those departing from the United Kingdom. So, you can save a few bucks by booking your itinerary as a one-way flight from the U.S., instead of a return trip to the U.K.

For example, the surcharge from New York – JFK to Heathrow is $151.7 whereas, on the return flight from LHR to JFK, it’s approximately $262 (£219.7).

Is This Offer Valid on Virgin Atlantic’s Partner Airlines?

The sale is valid for redemption travel only on Virgin Atlantic and not for travel on partner airlines such as Delta, ANA etc, across peak and off-peak times, and applies across Economy, Premium Economy and Upper-Class redemptions.

Virgin Atlantic’s partner airlines have lower or non-existent fuel surcharges but this offer isn’t valid for travel on those airlines.

Does This Offer Apply to Existing Bookings?

To take advantage of this great offer, customers must book by February 28th and complete travel by May 31st. The discount does not apply to existing bookings, so if your existing booking qualifies for the new offer, you may consider cancelling and rebooking, though availability is not guaranteed.

For London Heathrow – Mumbai, you can get a one-way ticket starting at 14,000 Virgin Points and £192 in Economy. Premium Economy prices at 19,200 Virgin Points and £373, and Upper Class is at 33,200 Virgin Points and £526.
