KLM has unveiled an upgraded version of its World Business Class seat, which will be installed on its Boeing 777s.
The new Business Class suite is actually a modified variant of KLM’s existing Jamco Venture seat found on the carrier’s Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners. This new suite with sliding doors, will be fitted on all of the airline’s Boeing 777s over the next year.

“Based on extensive customer and competitor research, we improved our World Business Class seats to ensure that customers have more privacy and comfort during their flights. The new seats are better in terms of design, technology and sustainability features.”

Hi, I was involved in the seat design so a few answers/comments to your reviews.
@Phil
The door design is fairly unique and does not require a lot to open it. Is is a flexible door with a magnet based closing; so simply push the door open in case of emergency. The magnets are strong enough off course to prevent the door from opening during turbulence or a small touch… 😉
@Patrick
You will be amazed by the amount of space these seats offer. In face you personal space will be increased a lot, as well as the stowage space and a very roomy ottoman area. Besides, we are not reducing the number of seats but increased from 34 to 35 Business seats.
@Chiel
KLM did a lot to improve the armrest to be honest. The coating is changed to a new version. Furthermore we did a lot of testing and trying to update the buttons in such a way an undesired movement is not happening anymore. We build in a delay in button respons, plus we integrated subtle illumination feedback when a button is touched. Furthermore different technology is used for the lower button to prevent it from ‘ghost’ movements.
We look forward seeing you on board of our Orange Pride 😉
Those doors in business class are great for privacy but would inhibit quick emergency evacuation.
This is a worse user experience as overall there is less room around those seats compared to the current 777 business class seats. Also since they are going from 2-2-2 to 1-2-1 this will reduce the number of available business class seats.
Looks nice! However the touch buttons for the seat should not be on the place where you put your arm to rest. Just like the 787 seats, this results in a suddenly moving chair. Also the grey coating is not very strong, so it let’s the bright light through where coating is worn away, which is inconvenient during the night.
I don’t understand why KLM choose the same bad quality design for the armrest.
The door is a great improvement though!
Hope to fly on the Orange Pride soon!
