Airlines are adding newer but tighter and narrower seats in Economy Class seating. Such is the case on the Boeing 777, as airlines like British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qatar Airways have already transitioned from 9 abreast to 10 abreast seating (3-3-3 to 3-4-3 configuration) in Economy Class.
So, which airlines still offer wider seating 9 abreast on their Boeing 777?
Airlines use 3-3-3 configuration on B777
Japan Airlines leads the pack with a generous 34 inches of legroom and 19 inches of seat width, making them an appealing choice for travelers seeking more space.
Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines’ Boeing 777-300/ERs feature the new JAL Sky Wider Economy Class. These seats have been redesigned to be slimmer, providing about 3.9 inches (10 cm) of extra legroom and 0.8 inches (2 cm) of extra seat width.
JAL deploys its B777-300ERs primarily on International routes to the US and Europe alongside a few Asian routes.
Singapore Airlines

Joining its Asia-Pacific counterparts is Singapore Airlines, offering 32 inches of legroom and 19 inches of seat width in its Boeing 777-300/ERs. These B777s feature 184 standard Economy Class seats and are deployed on medium to long-haul routes.
EVA Air

- Seat Width: 18.3 inches
EVA Air, known for its comfortable cabins, offers 33 inches of legroom and 18.3 inches of seat width in its Boeing 777s.
However, it’s important to note that some of the carrier’s 777-300/ERs feature a 3-4-3 configuration (353-seater Boeing 777s), so be sure to check the layout when booking.
Korean Air

Korean Air also offers 33 inches of legroom and 18 inches of seat width on board its Boeing 777-300/ERs. These Boeing 777s are configured in a three-class configuration including 227 Economy Class seats.
Asiana
- Legroom: 33 inches

Similar to its Korean counterpart, with a 3-3-3 configuration in its Boeing 777-200/ERs, Asiana ensures 33 inches of legroom and 18 inches of seat width, giving you wider space to unwind and enjoy your travels. Asiana’s 777s are usually deployed on long-haul routes with the likes of Sydney and Istanbul.
Saudia

Some of Saudia’s 777-300/ERs are equipped with a 3-3-3 configuration. These B777 flies primarily to London, Paris, and the U.S.
Not all aircraft in Saudia’s fleet have this layout. Ensure you choose the right flight configuration for your comfort as many of their B777s feature 3-4-3 configuration, primarily used to Asian destinations.

Kuwait Airways operates ten Boeing 777-300/ERs which are configured in a three-class configuration and they are deployed on flights to London, Dhaka, Bangkok, Manila, Mumbai, and a handful of other medium-haul routes. The forward Economy section has excellent leg room.

Japanese carriers appear to excel in providing a bit larger legroom, with both ANA and Japan Airlines offering a comfortable 34 inches of legroom. However, contrary to the 3-3-3 configuration, some of the older ANA’s B777s offer 9-abreast seating in a unique 2-4-3 configuration.
*Note that six of the recently delivered Boeing 777-300/ERs feature 3-4-3 Economy Class seating and the older ones are also being reconfigured to this configuration.
