The On-board Lounge was first introduced on August 1st 2008 and has since become a mainstay of Emirate’s double decker aircraft. Now in its 9th year, the Emirates A380 On-board Lounge (OBL) is arguably the most popular social spot at 40,000 feet.
I was given the opportunity to preview the On-board Lounge earlier this year in the Arabian Travel Market.
On August 1st 2017, Emirates’ newly revamped A380 On-board Lounge made its operational debut on a flight to Kuala Lumpur; this marked the 9th anniversary of the airline’s award-winning A380 service.
I flew their 96th, and latest, A380 A6-EUX to Kuala Lumpur last weekend and it featured the new On-board Lounge!

The latest makeover of the lounge, inspired by private yacht cabin designs, features a more intimate and sociable area.
See the actual pictures taken on-board. The seating area resembles a private jet with all the luxury furnishings!
The seating area comes with a spacious table where you can enjoy drinks at, you could even have your meal served here if you so desired.
I personally think it is a great improvement over the previous version, with a lighter wood trim and a proper seating area with table. I took my meal in the lounge area and was ready to mingle with the other passengers and crew at 40,000 feet!
