FARNBOROUGH: Airbus receives order for 60 A220-300s

The founder of JetBlue, David Neeleman, has placed an order for 60 Airbus A220-300s for his new start-up airline.

The aircraft are set to be delivered 2021 onward.

The future start-up carrier is planned to be called Moxy but recent statements from Neeleman say the hotel chain, Marriott, “got a bit upset.”

Whatever the airline is called, the plan is to partner with Azul and TAP Portugal to fly across the Atlantic. There are no plans for a large joint venture.

Neeleman said in a statement that the A220 was chosen for its excellent performance on thin routes while offering passengers a comfortable product.

This order comes one week after JetBlue placed their order for 60 of the rebranded aircraft.
