IndiGo adjusts Airbus A320neo order

IndiGo has adjusted their order for Airbus A320neo family aircraft by converting 125 A320neos to the larger A321neo, taking their total A321neo order to 150 aircraft.

With 280 A320neos and 150 A321neos on order, IndiGo is one of Airbus’ largest customers for the family. IndiGo has plans to rapidly grow their fleet to comply with the increasing market in India. The goal is to introduce six new A320neo family aircraft and ATR 72s each month.

Despite their recent quarterly loss, an additional 30% of capacity will be added this financial year to remain the leader in the Indian aviation market.

56 A320neos have already been delivered to the airline, all of which are powered by Pratt and Whitney Geared Turbofan Engines, which have caused some troubles to aircraft. Pratt and Whitney has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure airlines who have ordered their engines for the A320neo family will be pleased with the performance and reliability offered.

Overall, Airbus has logged over 2200 orders for the A321neo, with the type accounting for 35% of all A320neo family aircraft on order. Compared to when the A321 was first offered, Airbus has sold 400 more of the re-engined aircraft.
