Qatar Qmiles have taken a valuation hit recently. In May, they massively devalued their currency by increasing award redemption rates with no notice. A one-way economy award ticket from the US to Doha used to cost 35,000 miles but now costs 50,750 miles, a nearly 60% increase. Earnings rates stayed the same but now Qatar’s newest Black Friday sale looks to help ease some of the pain by offering up to 4x the earnings for flights.
The Deal
Economy flyers you can earn up to 3x the QMiles you would normally earn.
Business and First Class passengers can earn up to 4x QMiles.
Flights must be booked directly on the Qatar Airways site or the Qatar mobile app
Flights must be booked by November 27, 2018 and you can travel until 31 July 2019.
Signing Up
You must register for this offer on or before December 5, 2018 or 24 hours before departure, which ever comes first. You can register by logging into your membership account at qmiles.com and selecting the offer from the “My offers” section on the left side of your screen. You may see more than one 4x promotion under your offers, look for the image below.

Should you purchase a Qatar flight for 4x the miles?
Probably not. This is a good deal if you were already planning on flying on Qatar between the dates and were waiting to pull the trigger on purchasing your flights. Qatar ruined part of their reputation when they devalued their currency without notice. The miles that you earn from this promotion could be devalued again by the time you use them. That being said, those of you who have left over Qmiles from before the devaluation, this is a good way to top up and be done with the program. Don’t get me wrong, I still think that Qatar has the best Business class in the sky but crediting to Qmiles isn’t worth the risk or the eventual headache.
