Wizz Air takes delivery of first Airbus A321neo
Wizz Air has taken delivery of their first Airbus A321neo, marking the first of their brand new fleet of jets set to be used for expansion and replacements.
The aircraft was handed over to the airline at Airbus’ Hamburg facilities on the 7th of March where a delivery ceremony was held.
Powered by two Pratt and Whitney Geared Turbofan engines, Wizz Air’s Airbus A321neo aircraft will be configured to hold 239 passengers in a single-class layout using Airbus’ Cabin Flex setting.
Initially ordering 110 A321neos in 2015, the airline later added on 74 more as well as 72 A320neos. With 256 A320neo Family aircraft on order and a fleet comprising of over 100 A320 Family aircraft, the airline has become one of Airbus’ largest customers for the type.
Offering a 20% reduction in fuel burn and with 50% less noise emissions compared to older aircraft of a similar category, the A320neo Family has become the world’s best selling single-aisle aircraft, with over 6500 on order from 100 more than 100 customers since 2010.
