A MAP Linhas Aereas ATR-42-300 performed a gear-up landing on the 15th of June, leaving the aircraft disabled on the runway.

The aircraft involved, 33 year old PR-MPN, manufacturer serial number 20, was performing flight PAM5914 from Manaus (MAO/SBEG) to Carauari
(CAF/SWCA) when the pilots requested to return to their departure airport after identifying a technical problem.

On approach to Manaus’ runway 11, the gear was not extended, leading to a gear-up landing. It’s not yet known if the technical issue identified during departure was related to the gear or if the failure to extend the gear was separate.

Of the 34 passengers and four crew members on the aircraft, only two people suffered minor injuries during the evacuation that was ordered.

The extent of the damage due to the gear-up landing is still being assessed and will be reported to Brazilian authorities now that an investigation has been opened.
