Major Revamp of Singapore Airlines’ Lounges at Changi Airport Terminal 3
Singapore Airlines has announced its plan to renovate its 11 year old existing lounges, starting next month to mid 2021. These lounges include SilverKris lounge (for First and Business Class passengers) and KrisFlyer Gold lounge (For KrisFlyer Gold and Star Alliance Gold) in Changi Airport Terminal 3. Designed by international hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, the SGD 50 million make-over aims to “give a fresh look and feel that is modern yet homely, while inspiring a sense of timeless elegance”.
This project will be carried out in four phases:
1) The Silverkris Business Class Lounge will be renovated first.

The new Silverkris Business Class lounge will feature four distinct zones:
- Productivity pods and rest area
- Relaxed Cafe for light snacks
- Dining hall with Asian and International cuisine and live stations featuring signature local delights
- Full service bar which will convert into a self-service breakfast station in the morning
2) The Silverkris First Class Lounge will be renovated next before The Private Room begins its makeover.

There is no introduction of a new distinct space – the First Class lounge will still have a flagship bar while The Private Room will retain its full-service fine dining section. As highlighted by Singapore Airlines, “Customers can look forward to an enhanced epicurean journey with fresh and seasonally curated dining offerings, on top of the perennial local favourites.”
3) The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge will be renovated last.
The new KrisFlyer Gold Lounge will be doubled up in space and will finally have its own restrooms and showers. The lounge will also feature dedicated working spaces and larger al fresco seating and dining areas.
Temporary Lounge Arrangement During This Period.
According to Australian Business Travelers, “Singapore Airlines will use the space of the KrisFlyer Gold lounge to accommodate Business and First Class passengers as those lounges are renovated, with lounge-worthy KrisFlyer Gold passengers being redirtected to a temporary lounge as of July 31, 2019. This will be located further along the ‘lounge level’ 3, adjacent to the Singapore Food Street food court. “

Updates on New Waitlist Policy on KrisFlyer.
What is KrisFlyer waitlist all about?
Singapore Airlines gives you the opportunity to be in a waitlist for a flight when there is no seat availability for flight redemption at a certain point in time. Although there is no guarantee that the seat will eventually open up for you, Krisflyer is pretty good at clearing award waitlist on the late minute (hours before flight departure).
To be in the waitlist, one needs to have sufficient miles in his/her KrisFlyer account. However, you can be in a waitlist on unlimited flights. For example, you need to have at least 27,500 miles to be in a waitlist for multiple flights that cost 27,500 miles and below.

New waitlist policy:
Moving forward, for flights starting from 14th August 2019, you can be in a waitlist for up to three weeks before departure. You will be informed of the outcome your request at least 14 days before departure. Should your redemption be unsuccessful, your waitlist request will be cancelled. This new policy is not applicable for the upgrade waitlist. KrisFlyer will send periodic reminders to your email on your requested waitlist flights.

1st time travel business class. If it sound silly questions, my apology. So business class don’t have to stick with the Gold lounge, we can use Gold or SilverKris lounge in other terminal? Do all of SilverKris had shower? A sticky 17-18 hours flight from Sin-LAX will be quite uncomfortable. What is Star Alliance vs SQ lounge? Do we just show our boarding passes. How to we find out the lounges has shower or not and eligible to use the facility? Thanks!
Hi S.Lum,
No worries.
So business class don’t have to stick with the Gold lounge, we can use Gold or SilverKris lounge in other terminal?
Answer: Yes.
Do all of SilverKris had shower?
Answer: Yes
What is Star Alliance vs SQ lounge?
Answer: Simply put, Star Alliance is a group of airlines. Any airlines within the Star Alliance can have their own lounge at any airport. Hence, read star alliance lounge as any lounge that is operated by any members within Star Alliance.
Do we just show our boarding passes?
Answer:Yes.
How to we find out the lounges has shower or not and eligible to use the facility?
Answer: Generally, so long as you have a Business Class boarding pass, you can access to any lounge operated by airlines within Star Alliance. To find out if lounge has shower, you have to google that.

We will be flying into Singapore August 2019 business class from LAX. We pay cash not point. Can we use the airport lounge for arrival? We have 4 hours layover then fly with Sik Air (SIA sis airline) on economy to KL. We don’t need food just shower and change.
Do the temporary airport lounge had shower? Returning, business class, we will be flying out after long day sight seeking. Flight leave at night and had to check out of the hotel in midday.
First question is quite tricky. Maybe you should try asking upon check in. The temporary SQ First/Business Class lounge will be the current KrisFlyer Gold lounge, hence I suspect there is no shower facilities. But fear not. If you have a SQ Business Class boarding pass, you can access to any star alliance lounge in the airport or simply hop on the skytrain to T2 for SQ lounge.
