For decades, long-haul flights in the southern hemisphere have been crazily expensive. These flights fly through thousands of miles without seeing anything but vast ocean. It is rare to see any deals, but now, you can fly Business Class with LATAM and Qantas with fares as low as $2,413 round trip.

Find This Deal
This deal can be easily found using Google Flights and ITA Matrix. When using Google Flights: choose Business as your cabin, enter departure and arrival city, choose a date pair, and then select LATAM as the preferred airline.

Then use the calendar tool to find the lowest possible price.

Finally, choose the flights you like and book on the website that has the lowest price. Note that the Qantas website does not get you to the lowest price and LATAM website has different regulations depending on the region you choose to book on.
Qantas Business Class Product
Qantas uses Boeing B747-400s on the flights in this deal. They are equipped with full-flat Business Class seats in a 2-3-2 configuration main deck and 2-2 configuration upper deck. Check out Sam’s review below for more detail.
LATAM Business Class Product
LATAM uses Boeing B787s on the flights in this deal. These aircraft are newer than Qantas’ B747s and they feature full-flat Business Class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.

Credit This Deal
Both Qantas and LATAM are members of the oneworld alliance, which means all other oneworld members can credit this ticket. This ticket books into Z fare class on long-haul flights, I fare class on short-haul Business Class flights, W fare class on short-haul Premium Economy Class and Y fare class on short-haul Economy Class. It books into Premium Economy and Economy because, on some routes, there are no Business Class seats on the plane. Below are the earning rates for LATAM Z fare class.

To calculate the specific amount of miles you will get, visit where to credit and fill in your flights.
Bottom Line
This is a great deal for those who plan to travel next year. The reason is that although the deal covers many destinations, there are so few dates available for each destination this year. However, when looking at next year from April to July, there are plenty available.

Latam will never leave One World
Latin America has two main markets, Latam (oW) or Avianca Group (Star)
The first dominates the South, The second Central and northern South America. And now United has majority ownership of both Copa and Avianca.
So, The main centers in USA are Miami and Houston.
Dallas and Chicago are alternate. That accounts for the entire continent of the Americas.
Logistically it is a no brainer Qantas and Latam are OW, Now you see why Aerolineas Argentina’s had no market, since Skyteam is not as strong as OW or Star team.
Hi,
I am travelling from Sydney to Washington (IAD) during this Christmas break. We purchased a economy class ticket which was still around 2800 AUD. I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade to a premium economy. If yes, do you know how much it would cost?
Alternatively would it be cheaper to go and ask in the counter in the day of departure or should we actually go and purchase the Premium Mcconomy before hand?
Thanks
Hi, Sirish! A quick answer would be yes, you can upgrade to Premium Economy. It is really hard to estimate how much that would cost, so I recommend asking both on the phone and at the check-in counter. Typically you need to actually change your ticket if called beforehand, while the check-in counter will give you a fixed price. Hope that helps!
What about the travellers already booked and paid for flights from Melbourne to Buenos Aires in J in Feb. 2020. If LATAM leaves the OW alliance what about the benefits in terms of QFFs and SC accrued for flying this OW partner to Qantas? It seems neither party is prepared to give assurances.
Thanks for the heads up Neo. Grabbed Sydney to Rio return nest Feb in business for just over $3500 AUD!
