Mars Avia Antonov An-74 Performs Gear Up Landing

On the 9th of October 2019, a Mars Avia Antonov An-74T-100 was on approach to Mogadishu Airport in Somalia when the pilots had to perform a gear up landing.

The aircraft, registered EK-74008, was performing a flight from an unknown origin when during approach, the landing gear failed to extend.

Upon declaring an emergency and completing checklists, it was determined a gear up landing would have to be conducted.

A bystander captured the approach and landing in video format, as seen here:

Once at rest, the pilots evacuated the aircraft and no injuries were reported. Authorities that attended the scene are still assessing the damage along with engineers.

As a result of the incident, the runway was closed for a few hours to secure the scene for appropriate response teams to assess the situation.
