From now until the 15th December 2019, IHG Rewards Club is offering up to 4x IHG points. Stay must be completed by 31st January 2020. Here are the details:
For the 2nd stay to the 4th stay, the bonus points are capped at 200,000 points. As you will be earning 40 points per dollar spent on your fourth stay, you may want to have a cheaper stay at the beginning and the most expensive one towards the end.
To earn these bonus points, you have to register here as well.

1)IHG Properties, Base Points and Tier Bonus
The above are the base points for every dollar spent. If you are a IHG elite member, you can earn an extra tier bonus:
- Gold members: 10% tier bonus
- Platinum members: 50% bonus
- Spire members: 100% bonus.
If you register for this promotion, you can earn up to 40 points per dollar spent. Elite tier bonus is not applicable for this extra bonus.
2)Why Are IHG Points Valuable
a) IHG PointsBreaks Promotion – Redeem a room starting from 5,000 IHG points
IHG often runs PointBreaks promotion where you can redeem a night for as little as 5,000 IHG points. There are also PointsBreaks that require 10,000 and 15,000 IHG points.
Suppose you book a room for $250 on your 2nd IHG stay, that earns you 2x bonus points in this promotion, you have already earned yourself a room that cost 5,000 IHG points.
b) Last Minute Redemption Deals
If you have to book your room at the last minute, you would probably have to pay a crazy price. This is where IHG points come in handy. In addition, IHG Reward Club often offers buy points promotion. For example, in the previous promotion, you can buy points for 0.56 US cent/point.
Here is a good scenario where using points may actually be cheaper, especially if you buy IHG points during their buy points promotion. For example, a stay at The InterContinental London Park Lane next week cost $678.32. You could use 50,000 IHG points + $136 tax to redeem your stay, which would cost you just $416 (0.56 US cent/point).
