Air Corsica Takes Delivery of First Airbus A320neo

Air Corsica, has taken delivery of the first of two Airbus A320neo’s, becoming the first French operator for this type of aircraft.

Air Corsica was founded in 1989 as Compagnie Corse Mediterranee and nowadays acts as a regional airline, mainly connecting Corsica with other domestic destinations in France like Paris-Orly, Toulouse, Nice or Marseilles.

The aircraft, MSN 9348 with registration F-HXKB and named “I Sanguinari”, is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines and is configured in a single-class cabin 3-3 layout, seating 186 passengers.

All seats include USB ports to charge electronic devices during flight and in addition, the aircraft’s lavatories are designed to facilitate access for passengers with reduced mobility.

According to Airbus, the highly-fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft will help reduce Air Corsica’s operating costs.

According to the airline, the first A320neo will arrive at Bastia-Poretta Airport on the 4th of December. The second aircraft, MSN 9392 with registration F-HXKJ, will be named “I Capu Corsi” and is expected to be delivered in the coming days. The two airplanes are leased by ICBC Leasing.

Air Corsica has a fleet of 13 airplanes, with this new arrival, they currently have six A320’s (one of which has 180 seats) and six of the ATR Family (one ATR42 with 48 seats and five ATR72’s with 70 places).
