Irkut MC-21 prototype (73051) overran the end of the runway and ended in snow at Zhokovsky Aerodrome (UUBW), near Moscow. All on-board remained unhurt.
United Aircraft Corporation have confirmed the incident and have explained that during tests, for an interrupted flight with the use of emergency brakes and simulated failure of one engine, the MC-21-300 (73051) rolled out of the runway ended up on the snow.
The crew was not injured and no visible damage was found on the aircraft. The reason for the incident will now be investigated.
MC-21 made her first flight in May 2017 and the medium-range narrow-body is being offered to customers in two versions: with Russian PD-14 engines or with Pratt & Whitney PW1400G-JM.
