American Airlines will introduce new onboard amenity kits for premium cabin customers in partnership with FORMIA, the international guest amenity and hospitality specialist, luxury design brand Shinola and New York based perfumers D.S. & Durga.
The new amenity kits that American provides for premium customers, on long-haul international and transcontinental flights, begin rolling out on flights operating between the United States and London Heathrow (LHR). The kits will roll out across other long-haul international and transcontinental flights throughout the summer.
The amenity kit collection is part of a partnership between American Airlines and Shinola, which will create an integrated experience for American Airlines passengers.
First Class International
Fusing together Shinola’s timeless washbags, duffels and carryall bags, the First Class International amenity bag, in navy and black pebble grain faux leather, with its end to end zip opening and spacious interior makes it an ideal post-flight washbag.
Inside each kit, passengers will receive artisan skincare products from perfumers D.S. & Durga; who are known for their transportive fragrances with rich narratives.
First Class Transcontinental and Business Class International
For First Class Transcontinental and Business Class International, the amenity bag pays homage to Shinola’s wristlet wallet. With a combination of canvas and faux-leather, a splashproof inner lining and two stylish colourways - olive and dark navy – the pouches are sure to become collector’s items.
Business Class Transcontinental and Premium Economy Class
The Business Class Transcontinental and Premium Economy Class amenity bag echos the distinctive wristlet wallet design in navy; featuring two zipper colourway styles and a subtle, minimalist, finish and a more playful contrasting colour zipper. Made from recycled PET felt fabric, the bags provide a smart yet sustainable must-have travel accessory.
International guest amenity and hospitality specialist FORMIA has recently launched a sustainability initiative, tied to the company’s wholly integrated sustainability strategy, which sees all eye masks and socks to be made from 100% recycled PET fabrics. As part of this initiative, American Airlines will be the first airline to offer these amenity kits; these kits will include responsibly produced eye masks and socks, that will carry the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) international certification.
“We are delighted to have brought together three strong brands to create a partnership that will give American Airlines’ passengers a truly unique and purposefully designed kit to take home and re-use. We pride ourselves in curating meaningful products and experiences to enhance the customer journey and beyond, and are excited to support the launch of this industry-leading collection.”
Roland Grohmann, CEO & Managing Partner of FORMIA.
Shinola, known for assembling world-class clocks with an affinity for unique design, will be creating a limited number of desk clocks, with a dial made entirely from the original metal of American’s iconic fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft. Additionally, later this summer, Shinola wall clocks will be featured in select American Airlines Admirals Club lounges.
