Once Qatar Airways resumes its flight between Doha and Auckland, it will become World’s second-longest flight.

While the aforementioned flight between Singapore and New York currently holds the record for the longest commercial flight, it falls short of the title for the longest nonstop commercial flight ever flown. That prestigious accolade was achieved in March 2020, when Air Tahiti Nui operated a nonstop flight from Papeete, Tahiti to Paris, covering a distance of 9,765 miles.

Air Tahiti Nui had to bypass its usual layover in Los Angeles due to pandemic-related travel restrictions that were in effect during that period.

However, this remarkable feat is set to be outdone by Qantas in 2025 when the Australian flag carrier will launch its Project Sunrise flights, covering a staggering 10,573 miles between Sydney and London and 9,950 miles between Sydney and New York.

These ambitious routes will undoubtedly push the boundaries of air travel and redefine what is possible for commercial flights.
