Etihad Airways has announced its largest-ever network expansion in a single day, unveiling ten new routes set to launch in 2025. These new routes are aimed to connect Abu Dhabi to new medium-haul destinations.
Among the highlights of this announcement is the crucial role of the Airbus A321LR in making the majority of these routes possible.
New Routes, Frequencies, and Launch Dates
The A321LR will serve eight of the ten new destinations, primarily focusing on medium-haul routes across Asia, North Africa, and Europe.
- Atlanta, USA: Four weekly flights (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) starting July 2, 2025, operated by Airbus A350.
- Taipei, Taiwan: Daily flights starting September 7, 2025, operated by Boeing 787.
- Medan, Indonesia: Three weekly flights (Tue, Thu, Sat) starting October 2, 2025, operated by Airbus A321LR.
- Phnom Penh, Cambodia: Five weekly flights (Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sun) starting October 3, 2025, operated by Airbus A321LR.
- Krabi, Thailand: Daily flights starting October 9, 2025, operated by Airbus A321LR.
- Tunis, Tunisia: Three weekly flights (Tue, Thu, Sat) starting November 1, 2025, operated by Airbus A321LR.
- Chiang Mai, Thailand: Four weekly flights (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) starting November 3, 2025, operated by Airbus A321LR.
- Hanoi, Vietnam: Daily flights starting November 3, 2025, operated by Airbus A321LR.
- Hong Kong: Five weekly flights (Daily except Tue, and Sat) starting November 3, 2025, operated by Boeing 787.
- Algiers, Algeria: Four weekly flights (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) starting November 7, 2025, operated by Airbus A321LR.
The introduction of the A321LR allows Etihad to operate economically on routes with medium passenger demand, providing flexibility in aircraft deployment. It complements the airline’s wide-body fleet by efficiently linking Abu Dhabi to secondary cities, offering passengers a better travel experience.
