Join me on the new Lufthansa Allegris First Class flight from Chicago to Munich. I tried out the Double Suite in the middle!
Video
Lufthansa continues to roll out its €2.5 Billion cabin upgrade program "Allegris". The new Lufthansa First Class features a floor-to-ceiling wide suite. At least 6 A350 featuring Allegris products are flying now. They're all based out of Munich. Last year, I tried out the Business Class Allegris product from Munich to Vancouver. You can see my photo trip report below:
Lufthansa First Class Allegris Flight
The most impressive Allegris product is Lufthansa First Class, which features a floor-to-ceiling-wide suite. My flight was from Chicago to Munich on LH435. Flight time was 7 hours 45 minutes with a strong tail wind.

I settled in my window suite 1A and received the usual First Class amenities, such as a Champagne, menu, pajamas, slippers, and a Porsche Design amenity kit before takeoff.
As the photo shows, the suites are much wider and there are only 3 suites in a 1-1-1 layout. The middle suite is called Suite Plus which can fit 2 people together. Given I was the only passenger in the First Class cabin, I took some pictures around and tried out both the single and double suite.

The Allegris Double Suite
The double suite is closed and blocked during online check-in seat selection. However, on my flight, it remained empty and I was able to switch to the double suite.

Food and Beverage
After takeoff, the usual First Class service began. Here is the food and beverage menu for Lufthansa First Class.

As a long-standing tradition, the crew rolled out the caviar cart and served it in front of me.
There was also a trio of appetizers, they serve all and you don't need to pick and choose any. There were 5 main courses to select from.

I did some red wine tasting and selected an Austrian red wine named Markowistch 2020, which pairs well with the beef steak

Double Suite Turndown Service
In First Class, the crew pampers you and turns down your bed. Given I was the only passenger in the First Class cabin, I opted to sleep inside the double suite.

The double bed was formed but turning down 2 individual seats flat. However, there is a small gap in the middle (the edge of the seat) may cause a little discomfort if you sleep in the middle. I can confirm the double suite is wide enough to fit 2 people to sleep together.
Lufthansa is the first airline to feature seat heating and cooling technology by Swiss company Caynova AG. I turned the seat to cool mode during my sleep.

There is a larger lavatory located in the front of the aircraft for First class passengers.

Free Wi-Fi codes were given to First Class passengers to use the entire flight. However, the speed was average.

It was a quick overnight flight with a strong tailwind. About 1.5 hours before landing, the crew woke me up for breakfast.
Lufthansa crew told me they can cook scrambled eggs with bacon freshly onboard. At this point, I simply couldn't eat much and chose just the smoked salmon and orange juice.

My Thoughts
Before landing, I summarized my new Lufthansa Allegris First Class experience, which has raised the bar considerably and is a truly next-gen First Class product. Once onboard, I felt like stepping inside a luxury cabin with full privacy. The food and beverages served were high quality as usual. The only complaint was that the flight went so fast. I simply need more flying hours to enjoy it to the full.
The downside: Given there are just 3 suites available, it will be difficult to use miles for redemption or upgrade.
