Bamboo Airways set to launch in December
Startup carrier, Bamboo Airways, is aiming to launch on the 29th of December, which just fits in their agenda to commence operations before the end of 2018.
Bamboo Airways received the go ahead for air transport early this month, however is still waiting on its operator certificate and other paperwork.
Initially, Bamboo will operate 10 aircraft before increasing that figure to 20 during the early stages of 2019. An Airbus A319 and two A320s will launch the airline, each powered by IAE V2500 engines and leased from Standard Chartered Aviation Finance. July up until November of 2019 will see the introduction of three A320neos.
For longer flights, Bamboo has signed a letter of intent for 20 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and 24 Airbus A321neos. The Boeing 787s, should the deal be firmed, are expected to be handed to Bamboo during 2020-2021, however ongoing talks with Boeing are hoping to get the aircraft delivered earlier.
The airline’s website does not have any tickets on sale yet, however plans to open this very soon. Launch routes will comprise of destinations within Vietnam such as Hai Phong, Thang Hoa, Binh Dinh, Quang Binh, Phu Quoc, Quang Ninhn and Nah Trang. Once long haul aircraft start to arrive and the airline is approved, Europe and North America will be come the next destinations served by Bamboo.
Bamboo Airways missed their initial launch date on the 10th of October due to the lack of necessary licences, so the effort put in is hoped to be shown off on the 29th, where investors, executives and flight crew can see their name touch the skies for the first time.
