How to Find This Deal?
The best way to find this fare is by using Google Flights or the ITA Matrix.
Simply type in the departure city as LON and arriving city as NYC, or use this link for the example above.
Then use the calendar to the right to find the date and price you like.
Finally, select the flight you want and choose your preferred booking website.
What is The Premium Economy Product Like?
Both British Airways and American Airlines offer Premium Economy Class products with different seats from regular Economy Class. When taking Premium Economy flights you can expect: to sit in a separate cabin, have a seat with extra recline and legroom, a larger personal TV, and an elevated level of service.
Be careful when choosing your British Airways flights as they do operate some very very old 747’s which we have included as some of the worst Premium Economy products. You can check out Steven’s review of the American Airlines Premium Economy below, when he flew from Miami to London.
Where Should I Credit this Ticket?
This ticket books into P fare class for all flights. P class would give you 150% EQM if you credit to American Airlines. However, it is also possible to credit to other oneworld frequent flyer programs as well. Make sure to check out where to credit for more information.
How Should I Pay For This Ticket?
I recommend booking this deal directly with the airline as that is the safest way to ensure that your tickets are in good hands.
The Platinum Card® from American Express offers 5x points on all airfare purchases made directly with airlines and Amex. If you purchased this ticket directly from the airline or with AmexTravel.com you should earn a minimum of 4,700 membership rewards points worth around ~$80 USD depending on how you value American Express Membership Rewards Points. You can learn more about The Platinum Card® from American Express here.
If Amex isn’t your card of choice the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card offers 2x points on all airfare purchases. Regardless of where you purchase this ticket, if you pay with the Chase Sapphire Preferred you should earn ~1,950 Chase Ultimate rewards points worth around ~$40 USD depending on how you value Chase Sapphire Rewards Points. You can learn more about the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card here.
Bottom Line
This deal offers a great price for those who want to have a better flying experience but are not able to stretch to First or Business Class tickets. Flights between London and New York is one of the busiest routes in the world and at this price there is value to be had.
Have you taken a Premium Economy Class flight on British Airways or American Airlines before? How was your experience compared to regular Economy Class?
