A Max Air Boeing 747-400, with registration 5N-DBK and performing flight NR-2092 from Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to Minna (Nigeria), suffered minor damages after a complex landing on runway 05.

The airline reported the aircraft landed in a heavy downpour and gusting winds, the ILS was “epileptic” with unreliable signals.

“Using their wealth of experience and knowledge of the terrain and environment to a safe landing and stop on the runway during which, one of the engines slightly brushed the runway due to complex landing maneuvers occasioned by the strong downdraft, aircraft did not crash nor skid off the runway,” said Capt. Ibrahim Dilli, Director of Max Air Flight Operations

“All passengers and crew are safe and sound. All required reports of the incident have been filed.”

Nigeria’s Accident Investigation Board opened an investigation into the occurrence and dispatched 5 investigators on site.

“Officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the Accident Investigation Bureau have inspected both the aircraft and runway and are satisfied.”
