FedEx B767 Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

A FedEx Boeing 767-300 Freighter has made an emergency landing in Los Angles, sending sparks flying. The incident occurred after the landing gear malfunctioned, resulting in the left engine scraping against the runway. The flight had been operating from New York Newark Airport.

The incident occurred at 04:50 local time, when the FedEx B767, registered N146FE, was landing on Runway 25R. After reporting the landing gear malfunction to ATC at 03:50, the flight crew advised that they were “probably going to start hashing plans for an approach” according to LiveATC recordings.

Upon touchdown, the left engine was seen scraping along the runway, causing sparks and flames. One of the pilots on board sustained a leg injury during the incident, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

In a statement to the CNN, FedEx said that they are “grateful that our flight crew is safe and that no one was seriously injured”.

“Safety is our top priority, and we are working with investigators to fully understand the matter.”
