At least six rockets hit Baghdad International Airport at dawn on Friday 28 Jan 2022, while a drone targeted a nearby base housing US troops.
An ex-Iraqi Government A300-B4 (Reg: YI-APX) was believed to be the one damaged by rocket fire at Baghdad International Airport. The airplane has been de-commissioned from use.
The police sources did not report any other damage or any injuries, according to Reuters.
The rockets struck in the early morning hours, and landed between the civilian and military areas of the Baghdad airport.
Iraqi Airways, the country’s main carrier, said in a statement that the attack damaged one of its out-of-service planes parked near the airport but that operations were running normally and no delays were expected.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
