Short Runway and Crazy Wind – New Zealand’s Most Challenging Flight

After 17 hour non-stop flight from New York to Auckland, I continue my journey to Queenstown, in the South Island of New Zealand. Queenstown is one of the best scenic and most challenging airports in New Zealand. I am flying on Air New Zealand A320neo in the cockpit behind the pilots. Captain Grant explains the multiple challenge factors due to the terrain, wind, low clouds and even snow in Queenstown. Enjoy the scenic ride across New Zealand.

My next flight is to the capital of New Zealand; Wellington. The flight time from Auckland to Wellington was just 45 minutes. We flew at 34,000 ft on Air New Zealand A320neo. The pilot told me Wellington is usually very windy, and the runway is very short with just 6,000 ft making it even more challenging. Check out the landing!
