On the 3rd of February 2023, a United Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner and a Boeing 757 collided at Newark-Liberty International Airport.
The United Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with registration N29981 was performing flight UA187 from Johannesburg – O.R. Tambo International to Newark Airport.
The Dreamliner collided with the Boeing 757 during taxiing after landing. The left-hand winglet of the 757 Boeing was partially severed during contact with the right-hand wing of the Dreamliner. The Boeing 757-224 aircraft with registration N17133 was parked at the gate at the time of the collision. The 757 was scheduled to operate Flight UA2135 to Orlando.

At the time of the collision, the 757 had no passengers onboard. No injuries were reported in the collision, which happened around 8:45 a.m. local time.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) preliminary review, the Boeing 787 was being removed to a different location when it was impacted.
No injuries were reported, and the FAA says that their investigation is ongoing.
This incident occurs around three weeks after a close call at New York JFK Airport, involving Delta and American aircraft.
On the 13th of January, an American Airlines Boeing 777 and a Delta Airlines Boeing 737 experienced a near miss on the runway at New York’s JFK Airport. While the Delta 737 started its takeoff roll, surprisingly the American 777 crossed the active runway at the same time.
Preliminary information from the FAA suggested that the Delta Flight stopped its takeoff roll approximately 1,000 feet before reaching the point where the American 777 had crossed the adjacent taxiway.
